Day tour to Corcovado National Park

Excursion to one of the most biodiverse areas in the world

Take a day tour excursion of one of the most bio diverse places in the world. Your tour of Corcovado National Park begins in the morning with a boat ride along the beautiful coastline of the Osa Peninsula. Marine mammals thrive in the warm Pacific waters, so there’s a good chance you’ll even encounter dolphins along the way. The drive to San Pedrillo Station takes approximately 1.5 hours from Uvita and approximately 45 minutes from Drake Bay. Since there is no jetty at the station, the boat stops at the beach and you wade a few meters through the warm, knee-deep water. Your guides will be happy to help you disembark. The park entrance is located directly behind the beautiful stretch of beach.

First you will cross a small river and then you are already surrounded by jungle. One path winds through the forest and the other route runs over the paradisiacal palm beach. Another hiking trail leads to a beautiful waterfall. Corcovado National Park is in one of the most species-rich areas in the world. During your hike you will have the opportunity to discover various species of birds, all four species of monkeys native to Costa Rica, sloths and even anteaters. After the hike a delicious picnic lunch awaits you. Please make sure that you do not leave any trash in the park, always pack out what you brought in.

Answers to common questions:

Tours depart from Drake Bay in the early morning at around 6:00am.

It is a full day tour. The hike takes about 3 hours and the boat ride takes about 45 minutes each way.

Normal physical fitness is sufficient. Note, however, that the humidity is very high and therefore even easy hikes can be strenuous.

The hike is not dangerous, but since you are in the rainforest, it is essential to follow certain rules. Always follow your guide’s instructions and never leave the paths. Snakes are found throughout Costa Rica, especially in the rivers and estuaries. There are also crocodiles and even sharks in Corcovado National Park. The biggest risk isn’t animals that you might unexpectedly encounter, but dehydration. So remember to take plenty of water with you.

The hike is suitable for all ages, but not for small children, as the hike takes about 3 hours and small children cannot necessarily walk.
